Tinley Park

Tinley Park is nice suburbs southwest of Chicago. You can take the Rock Island METRA Train to the historic business district on Oak Park Avenue. There are several nice restaurants and taverns adjacent to the train station.

In 1998 the Village of Tinley Park undertook a Downtown Improvement Plan / Transit Oriented Development. The plan developed an aggressive plan to improve and revitalize the historic core of the Village. These photographs illustrate some of successes of the plan.

Tinley Park has done a great job improving their historic Village downtown at Oak Park Avenue and the Rock Island Train Station.  Craig Hullinger AICP led the plan development when he was Assistant Village Manager in 1998. Beth Ruyle prepared the Tax Increment Financing District (TIF) which helps pay for the improvements. Camiros developed the graphics and plan document. The Village has an aggressive plan for future redevelopment when the economy improves.
